Every year I try to make Christmas gifts for teachers, babysitters and co-workers. I have made Sugar Body Scrubs, Gingerbread Loaf Jars and Handpainted Tea Towels in the last few years. This years project is an easy felted dryer ball. All you need is wool! Well you also need a pair of old pantyhose and a really big needle butthat really takes away some to the impact to say all that!
The best part about dryer balls is they non-chemically help to make clothes fluffier and they cut down on dryer time. I have read that they can reduce the drying time by up to 20%. I find that having 4-6 balls makes the biggest difference. You may find that in the winter static is still an issue but you can always add a balled up piece of aluminum foil to your dryer or I use half a dryer sheet in the winter. I just CANNOT stand static, it makes me crazy in all the wrong ways.
