When I saw Amanda’s booth, The Crafty Chick, at a craft fair last month it was so strange….I had just that morning been wondering how to get a yard stick growth chart made to measure my boys against. When I asked her if it was something she could do she didn’t even hesitate. Of course, while looking for an example I found another sign I just had to have her make and this is it.
I loved this saying for Bug. He is just starting to appreciate how special he is to his younger brother and I wanted to acknowledge that bond.
So if you are in the Okanagan area check her out-she is amazing. She has ready made items and can work with you to create a custom piece. She has three boys (6 and under!) and has some really boy-friendly sayings, which in a world of little princesses can be hard to find!
Lastly, considering how much work goes into each piece her prices are great! She uses reclaimed wood or knotty pine in her work. The boards are securely attached (see picture below). She applies multiple coats of paint, sanding until a gorgeous weathered, aged look is achieved. After hand lettering is painted on she waxes the pieces to protect them and to add a beautiful soft shine. Hours of work go into each sign.
I will post pictures of my yardstick once I have it hung, which considering how much I procrastinate, will be next year.
