I love spending time with friends and family around Canada Day and this year I had some mommy friends and their TEN kids over for lunch after going to a parade. I wanted a nice red and white table with an easy centre piece. I saw this vase at work that nobody wanted and I grabbed it. This was so easy to pull to get so if you are looking for a simple flower arrangement for a Canada Day get together this cheep and cheerful bouquet will be a winner. I used a short red vase, mine is only about 10cm tall and added a dozen carnations. The bouquet I grabbed from the grocery store had one sprig of greens and one of a yellow flower. I trimmed my flowers to sit nice and low, right at the rim of the vase. I had wanted to use white flowers but was unable to find any, but in the end I am happy I used the red carnations. Since my combo was red on red I thought a ribbon would add some contrast. I found this fun ribbon in my scrap booking supplies but I couldn’t bring myself to trim it any shorter, in case I wanted to make something with it later, so it trails onto the table.
