ZERO. That is the amount of floor space I feel we currently have and it is grossing me right out! My boys both have winter birthdays and then with Christmas right after it is crazy how much new fun stuff we acquire. I appreciate all the gifts they received but that on top of everything we already have is overwhelming.
ZERO. The tolerance I have for stepping on toys. This year I had a plan well before winter even rolled around. I have planned a toy drive for our local Boys and Girls club, in fact it is our second annual.
PACK IT UP KIDDO! Bug has known for months that he would need to choose toys to donate to the club and I have reminded him often. He knows he loves going to birthdays (including his own monster truck party this year) at the club and he sees items he donated last year being played with. He was really good this year about the whole process. We picked up a couple of boxes from the liquor store and went home and began to fill them up. He told me he liked that he could ‘visit these toys again’ when we are at the club.
FUN. The toy drive is also a winter play date for all the kids and a chance for all us mamas and daddies to socialize. I rented the facility and divided the cost per child, which will be under $10.00 each. The kids will get a hotdog lunch and a Boys and Girls club coordinator will run them around in the gym. We are all bringing appies to snack on as well.
WIN WIN. I get to move two big boxes of toys out of my house. I get to run my kids around on a cold winter day. I get to eat yummy food. I get to talk to adults. I get the satisfaction of knowing that we together helped contribute to our community! YEAH!
I will post photos of the event. Do you have a fun way to purge post Christmas? Would you host a play date with a purpose like this?
