“I LOVE PACKING LUNCHES”, said no mom, ever! Packing lunches is this thankless job where there are no winners. I pack what I think my boys will eat and am constantly amazed what comes back. But there is one area of lunch packing that I do really enjoy, using reusable, zippered snack bags. Nic & Elli (you may remember the name from my swim diaper review) have provided our family with a snack and sandwich size baggie. We have been testing them on the go all summer.
Firstly, I will admit I am a sucker for a cute pattern so I swoon just looking at the Nic & Elli Etsy page. Yvonne has a great eye for fabric and always has great patterns to suit all tastes.
But great patterns aside I wanted to make the switch from disposable baggies because I am an Earth Mother Goddess, oh no, wait- it was because I am cheap and am sick of buying throw away baggies. My crunchy side liked them and my frugal side did the math. I knew if we were to get our ‘money’s worth’ I would be really looking for a durable baggie. These baggies are well made and can be wiped clean for easy messes or washed (and hung or low temp dryer) when needed. We have washed ours several times to test the durability-all good!
Ok now to the little extra detail that I love—the side strap-loopy thing with the snap. Small thing but so handy. I can snap it onto my bag easily and it makes it easier to carry with out squashing the food inside.
These little baggies are not just great for lunch but also little toys, pacifiers, keys and cards. Check out this pretty mama pattern—can’t you see yourself using this?
