I was given the opportunity to try out Woolzies Dryer Balls. I had been wanting to give them a try to see if they did everything they claim to do. They say they can do a lot of great things but can they really live up to all their hype?
They are extra large in size (think larger than a tennis ball) and they bump and bounce around in your dryer with your clothes to separate stuff and let all that warm air do its work faster. I found I saved 5-10 minutes a load. But all that separating and bounce also made my laundry super soft and it was pouffier. The loft on my towels was visible, so I was impressed.
They claim to be good for 1,000 plus loads of laundry, obviously I am taking their word on this one! So if you can eliminate or reduce your use of fabric softeners this is a good chunk of change, in addition to the shorter time running the dryer. Saving money is always good in my books!
They are soft and will not damage your dryer. They do thump around a bit but nothing that I found disturbing, I fell asleep just fine while a load ran.
We are now used to having unscented laundry since my second son started getting rashes so I didn’t notice the lack of scent to my laundry. They do say you can put a few drops of essential oil on at the end of the load and run it on cool but I found transfer of the oil on my t-shirt and had to rewash it so I personally didn’t try it again.
Lastly, and most important to me, static. I found a reduction, but not an elimination of static. Again they give a suggestion of balling up a couple of balls of tin foil to toss in to help. I have tried this in the past and they are noisy and shed foil as they are used. I was also a little hesitant that they might scratch up my dryers interior. So we use 1/3 of a sheet of a dryer sheet (a green brand) but that is down from a full sheet so I am over all happy with that.
All in all I was very pleased with Woolzies and thought they really did meet all the promises they made.
Now for the fun bit-Woolzies wants to give one of you a chance to win a pack!
